Critz hopes Medicare scare is Rothfus' Achilles' heel

If there was any speculation as to how Democratic U.S. Rep. Mark Critz would portray Edgeworth Republican Keith Rothfus in the 12th Congressional District race, it ended last week.

To be fair, Rothfus made it really easy — almost too easy — for Critz after he accepted the endorsement of the Tea Party Express at a rally Thursday in Plum. Talk about giving your opponent a helping hand.

“Millionaire Keith Rothfus” were the first three words in Critz’s press release bashing Rothfus for aligning with the same folks who think the draconian Ryan budget is just peachy.Critz’s focus, however, was on Medicare and how that same Ryan budget “ends Medicare as we know it by turning it into a voucher program, while cutting taxes for the richest Americans.”

As our friends at PoliticsPa.com pointed out Friday, Critz used the same it’s-the-end-of-Medicare-as-we-know-it attack against vanquished primary foe U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire, who supports a balanced budget amendment that critics say would devastate Medicare and Social Security.

Using “the end of Medicare” against a Democrat and a Republican? And, people say there’s no more bipartisanship!

We don’t remember the adjective “millionaire” being slapped before Altmire’s name much, though. That’s because it’s a new dig at Rothfus’ wealth via his wife, who — we were told recently — is a member of the Oliver family with, oddly enough, “Oliver money.”

For the full Pittsburgh effect, you have to say “Oliver money” with raised eyebrows and a knowing look. Kind of like this. See? (Man, we really need video, or at least a sketch artist.)

SAVE WESTERN PA MIDDLE CLASS JOINS FORCES WITH THE GATES FOUNDATION TO FIND A CURE FOR BELTWAY FEVER!

Like Malaria, one is never cured of this malady.  Spread by Beltway mosquitoes it gives the "public servant" an unquenchable thirst to drink the deliciously extravagant Potomac waters and a hunger for Beltway largesse.  Even minor Beltway  political appointees in failed bureaucracies can be stricken.   In the worst cases of Beltway fever, the victim  claims he has a calling to public service from God.  Warning:  Carrying a Tea Party card or an annual pilgrimage to CPAC does not vaccinate you from this disease.  We intend to warn the Western PA Middle Class about candidates who have Beltway fever.  We think candidates with Beltway fever need to be open about their affliction.  We will be conducting an aggressive outreach to find a cure for BELTWAY FEVER!

UNANSWERED QUESTIONS FROM LAST NIGHT’S CRITZ/ALTMIRE DEBATE? WE WESTERN PA MIDDLE CLASS VOTERS WANT ANSWERS!!

Questions left unanswered in the PA 12th debates:  1. Will Altmire remain a Democrat?   While this may seem like an unimportant issue to the working paid press, it is a serious issue to the Democratic base.  Base Western PA Democrats don’t want a bait and switch.   Altmire has not answered our questions about his alleged negotiations with the NRCC nor have the working paid press asked him.  2.  Altmire claims to fight the Tea Party.  Yet in 2009, he took a MaxOut donation from Tom Smith, leader of the Armstrong County Tea Party and now a GOP candidate for Senate.  Does Altmire take orders from the Tea Party?   3. Last night, Altmire wanted to talk healthcare.  This is great.  We wanted to talk about his donations from Big Healthcare.  Lobbyist Altmire claims he wants a performance based medical system.  This sounds great but which of Lobbyist Altmire's BIG HEALTHCARE donors is he really willing to sacrifice in providing affordable Healthcare for the Western PA Middle Class and their employers?  We think the working press that attended journalism school is far too tame to get at the core of what this election is about.  It is about having a Representative for our area that has the courage to represent us and be authentic.  We believe that Lobbyist Altmire is a very good political chameleon.  However, we believe it is people like Lobbyist Altmire that are making our system of government unworkable and putting us into gridlock. 

THE POST GAZETTE MISSED THE BIG POINT: POLITICAL COURAGE WILL BE REQUIRED TO DEFEND THE INTERESTS OF THE WESTERN PA MIDDLE CLASS. LOBBYIST ALTMIRE REPEATEDLY HAS SHOWN HE LACKS THE COURAGE TO FIGHT FOR US!!

We citizen journalists never graduated from Journalism school.  So far be it for us to lecture a sanctified outlet of the Fourth Estate, but we do take great umbrage with the PG's endorsement of Lobbyist Jason Altmire.  The endorsement purposely overlooked the near unanimous endorsement by Labor of Mr. Critz.  We understand how many liberal globalists  may discount Western PA LABOR.  We don't!   There would be no Western PA Middle Class if it weren't for Western PA LABOR.  We are not in favor of adopting the profitable Chinese labor  model, a nearly  disenfranchised  slave labor,  in Western PA.  If the PG editorial board and Lobbyist Altmire want to challenge the relevancy of Western PA Labor, so be it.  We believe there is a very important difference on the  Health care issue between the two candidates.  Mr. Altmire is a slave of BIG HEALTHCARE.   While being a self-proclaimed expert on Healthcare, Altmire has carefully dodged the issue of fighting for affordable Healthcare for the Middle Classes while leveraging his OBAMACARE no vote to appear of Fox News and gain donations from Big Healthcare.  Not mentioned was Lobbyist Altmire's support for the balanced budget amendment.  The balanced budget amendment could kill our economic recovery by forcing extremist measures and gutting programs important to Western PA Seniors like Medicare and Social Security.   The balanced budget amendment would give Lobbyist Altmire cover not to work in the Western PA  Middle Class's interest, while he panders to our area's TEA PARTY voters and to his Big HEALTHCARE contributors.  As for Medicare,  we have continually warned Western PA Seniors to be wary of Lobbyist Altmire.  When push comes to shove, will Lobbyist Altmire vote in the interests of Western PA Seniors or for his BIG HEALTHCARE donors?   If you are a MEDICARE recipient,  you should not sleep well at night knowing that Lobbyist Altmire is your representative.  Critz was mentored by Jack Murtha, who was able to get Billions of dollars invested in this entire region.  Murtha was not afraid to use his political capital nor his reputation in the fight to bring more jobs to this area and to transform our region from a purely industrial economy to our modern economy of today.  The Western PA Middle Class is interested in job creation but not in a Congressman, like Jason Altmire,  who continually looks over his shoulder, enslaved by the BIG HEALTHCARE lobby, frightened by the TEA PARTY and constantly opportunistically positioning himself on the most current issue of the day.  We are also disappointed in the PG editorial board in not asking Lobbyist Atlmire why he remains a Democrat and how long he will remain a Democrat.   Post Gazette editorial board:  our editorial board of citizen journalists is interested in the welfare of the Western PA Middle Class.  Does political courage matter to you?   We find no political courage in Lobbyist Altmire's record.  Political courage may soon be required to protect the interests of the WESTERN PA MIDDLE CLASS.
